About

Godfrey Design Consultants has served as the Southeast’s premier interior design experts for forty-two years. Since our inception, we have been honored with numerous awards and features in widely-read publications, and helped countless clients realize the potential beauty of their interior spaces. As a small company handling big jobs, we believe that quick turnaround times for ambitious projects shouldn’t have to come at the cost of outstanding design, attention to detail, and world-class customer service. Our highly qualified, professional staff offers the scope of services you’d expect from a big firm, with the customer-centered, detail-oriented approach you’ll only find at a boutique.

We pride ourselves on having helped a vast international network of clients bring out the best in their residential-, commercial-, hospitality-, and yacht interiors. But don’t take our word for it. Dozens of Grand Aurora Awards, two Golden Awards, Sand Dollar Awards, ASID and NAHB awards, and an international Award for Best Yacht Interior (for a 52m yacht built in Italy) attest to our reputation and capabilities.

Founder, Betsy Godfrey, also founded the Aurora Awards in 1982 and co-chaired the SEBC (founded 1978)—the largest building industry trade show in the Southeast. But the proudest achievement of her career was that of being inducted into the Florida Industry Hall of Fame—a true lifetime highlight.

Another source of pride for Betsy has been watching her daughter, Lauri Godfrey, flourish in the family business. As lead designer at Godfrey Design Consultants, Lauri’s natural-born talents and unremitting drive have led her to design many of our most popular, and highly-awarded, installations. A warm but incisive communicator, Lauri has built relationships with an expansive network of clients and industry professionals, while her ability to deliver consistently superior results has allowed her to maintain them throughout the years.

Our Leadership

Lauri has the unique ability to communicate with her clients to understand their tastes and design requirements. Thanks to these communicative gifts, she has also grown an impressive international following, building lasting relationships with clients and industry professionals from around the world.

But Lauri can do more than “talk the talk.” With three decades of experience and a keen eye for detail, her elegant installations have propelled Godfrey Design Consultants to renown as true leaders in the industry. In her thirty years with the company, Lauri has designed 20 high-rises, 5 super yachts, hundreds of residences, as well as countless common areas for commercial and residential properties. She has traveled abroad with design groups and worked on show homes for Southern Living magazine, Opryland, New American Home, and Time-Warner Cable.  Not one to rest on her laurels, Lauri knows that staying on top of an ever-changing market means staying on top of her education. To that end, she remains diligent in renewing her credentials and makes regular appearances at high-profile industry conferences.

Lauri’s wide following in upscale Naples, Florida, has offered her the opportunity to work with clients from around the world in this luxury, high-end market. Lauri’s clients collaborate directly with her from concept to completion, receiving exemplary service and unsurpassed creativity. Over the years, Lauri has cultivated lasting relationships with the trades, manufacturers, and suppliers—all working together to achieve the best possible installation.

Godfrey Design Consultants has long been regarded as an innovator. Thanks to Lauri’s leadership, we continue to raise the industry bar with consistent performance, world-class customer service, and forward-thinking concepts.

Betsy began her remarkable career in the home-building industry in the mid-60’s. By 1972, she had not only earned a real estate broker’s license, but become the first woman in Central Florida to hold a Florida Residential Contractor’s license, quickly parlaying her credentials into the construction of custom homes in the Orlando, Bay Hill, and Winter Park areas. In 1982, Betsy received a Florida Interior Design License, taking her career, and her company, to new heights.

Active for many years in both the local and state chapters of the National Association of Home Builders, Betsy received its highest honor with acceptance to the Florida Building Industry’s Hall of Fame in 2006. As co-founder of the prestigious Southeast Builders Conference and the Aurora Design Awards, Betsy not only remains one of the Southeast’s most prolific interior designers, but continues to foster interest and encourage innovation in the industry.
